The Sangre 229 is a different animal altogether from Ramon Chavez with utility functionality at the forefront of its design. If you’re looking for something from Ramon, but not his Redencion or its similar Liberation brother, the Sangre is the model for you. It pairs a Wharncliffe blade with a slender, tapered titanium handle that is reminiscent of Ramon’s famed 228 design. It’s wildly comfortable, even with its squared-off edges, and you get an extremely solid grip on this robust folder. The frame lock features a replaceable lockbar insert/overtravel arrestor and the knife is complete with a partial titanium backspacer. It also includes a plain titanium pocket clip without the skull.

Each model from the Ultramar line was designed by USA-based knife maker Ramon Chaves. His designs have become popular because of their rugged and ergonomic construction, and this production line creates them in larger quantities and at a more accessible price.

This line is manufactured by Reate using the best materials available and exacting standards of excellence. Because of their quality, issues like blade play, stiff action, and lock stick do not affect Chaves knives. Models are made in small batches, so if one speaks to you, don’t wait around on it. Once it’s gone, may be a while before it’s back.
